Speedy Home Remedies to Naturally Improve Your Appetite

I am sharing some of the best home remedies which can help in improving our appetite. There are products readily available in the market, but it is always better to start from home. Below are some remedies with some really easy to find ingredients. Please note that not every remedy works for everyone. If you do not notice a change in continuous three days, give the next remedy a try. My sister used to say me that eating pineapple helps to improve appetite. I tried it for a few days and it didn't help me much.

One home remedy that has ACTUALLY worked for me is to have some sour curd daily. I used to take around 1/3 cup of curd, pour water into it and drink it with some salt. I used to have it like daily for a minimum of two times.

Home Remedies to Boost Appetite:


1) Roast some asafoetida and powder into a fine one. Now, have it mixed with curd or lukewarm water.

2) Take some fresh tulsi leaves and take its extract. Have it with some salt.

3) Take some dry ginger powder and have it in the early morning in lukewarm water.

4) If you can some fresh sugarcane, take its juice and add lemon juice or ginger extract. Have it daily.

5) Pomegranate seeds work really well for improving the appetite. Have it with some sugar.

6) Grind nutmeg against honey or a grinding stone. You can also try nutmeg powder with some honey.

7) Fruits like pineapple and papaya also help to improve your appetite when consumed daily.


N.B: Lose of appetite can be a symptom of another illness as well. So do not hesitate to check with your doctor if there is no change in your appetite.

Hiccups were one of the regular problems for me until recently. Thankfully, now, it is under control. I no more have to suffer it like daily! Seriously, it was a suffering. Thankfully, this product is quite handy and easy to move with. As C-pink was in strips, it is quite difficult to store. But this one is quite a small bottle with 30 tablets in it. Plus, these tablets are soft gel capsules which makes it so much easy to swallow. No hassles in the middle of the way to stomach!


As of now, I am mildly anemic with a hemoglobin of 10.4 gm/ml.

How to Get Rid of Period Sickness + Painless Period Hacks to Know!


I am back with a post on periods! In this post, I am going to talk more about how you can feel better on periods. Even if I do not feel that this will be helpful for every reader out there if it helps at least one reader I am glad. Periods are a time where we naturally go sick and our body gets weak. It aches everywhere and it is so bad to manage things like every other day! So in this post, I will be discussing those things which can help you get rid of this lazy or sick feeling.

Step 1: Prepare for your periods. I highly recommend you to download a mobile app like period tracker if you haven’t started using any.

The app called “My calendar” is my favorite one. The highlight of this kind of an application is that even though you are too lazy to track your periods, all you have to do is that simply ‘tap’ the cat in the app and it does the job automatically. In just a click, this app will give you reminders in the coming months. There are so many other helpful features too like you can understand the dates where there are high chances of pregnancy, you can save details about your every period like mood swings, period length, flow, pain etc. So don't forget to check it out if you haven't done yet. This helps in tracking whether your periods are regular or not.

Step 2: Here are a few arrangements you can do on your periods or to get done well before in advance to your due date.

·    Get a hot water bag for yourself. This thing has actually helped me so much to ease the pain and relax. You can use it not just for your periods, but if you are having body pain or else just give a few presses with this bag and it feels a lot better in most of the cases. 
·    Sniff some nice fragrance or use a scented candle or air freshener or even an incense stick to make you feel better.
·    If you are like me and can’t take food just like how you do on the other days, ask someone to make milkshakes of some dense fruits to compensate for the loss. Also, make sure you drink sufficient water.
·    If you love chocolates, do save a few to bite during this time of your month. Chocolate can do wonders anytime, but don’t take it in excess.
·    Drink fresh juices.
·    Your body is in the process of cleaning itself. So simply relax and hug your bed without any guilt because it's ME time.
·    You can do mild yoga postures.
·    Don't worry about those stains! Nothing is more important than your own mental health! I used to worry so much about anything for this particular reason but its okay girls! After all, it is just a stain!
·    Make sure you lie flat on your bed and your pillow is in the right position. Doing it wrong can give unnecessary pressure and pain on your stomach/back which is a big NO.

·   Take a soft-furred blanket or cloth and wrap your hot water bag in it. It feels much better on your stomach this way that how we usually keep it. It soothes your skin and you do not get that burning feeling after a while!

·   Usually we get the hatred towards our hair when we are on our periods! I have smooth hair and I have to redo my hair every now and then and it is so irritating to do when we are on periods. So wear a head cap or a shower cap to save you from this trouble.

·    When you empty your Facial wipes sachet, do not throw it away. Give a straight cut to the bottom side of the right seal of the sachet and place the folded sanitary napkins inside. This way you can carry the sanitary napkins in your handbag without worrying about some awkward moments.

On the first day, I could brush my teeth only in the evening. And only after that, I will be having a dense fruit juice – mostly banana juice. And I am DONE for the day! Periods were a nightmare since then!

Of recently, I talked with few girls who had similar problems with mine and that were when I realized I am not alone.

How Himalaya Evecare has cured my cramps:-

As I mentioned, my recent visit to an ayurvedic doctor gave me a lot of confidence (and happiness) that these products should actually work and I will be finally out of pains and worries thus living a happy and peaceful life. But what has happened was the exact reverse of my apprehensions and thoughts. My first periods after being regular with his set of medicines were one of the worst. Usually, my periods woo comes to an on the third day of it.

I truly believe that this medicine is the one that has done the wonder.

I never skip this one. It has a sweet taste. So there are no reasons to say a no to this. I am still taking this medicine for I believe this is going to make my periods just like the way it should be! 

A Tailam (massaging oil) was suggested to me to be used every day and the doctor has asked me to leave it for some 30 minutes. Honestly, I use it only when my mind feels like doing so. It is called Lakshadi Tailam. The doctor asked me that the Tailam is best applied. I am not that kind of regular with it, and I use it only once in a while.

Health Regime for the Anemic Girls!

Anemia is one of the common problems, especially for girls. We lose blood every month and the loss has to be compensated regularly or else we will be anemic. As I have already mentioned in the previous post, I am an anemic and I am currently trying to get back to the normal hemoglobin level. So I just thought I would note down my regime for everyone like me.

How to diagnose if you have anemia?

  • First and the foremost symptom is tiredness. You will start feeling tired for no peculiar reasons and that might disturb you with your lifestyle.
  • When you are getting out of bed after lying down for some time, you will have a sort of black screen in your head and you might feel a sense of dizziness too.
  • Gently pull down the skin of the lower portion of your eyes, to have a look at the white portion of your eyes from the water line. If it is pale and white, you are anemic. If it is pink and red, you are not.
  • Have a look at your lips, if it is appearing pale then you are anemic.
If you see that the above-mentioned points seem to be true for you, then please have a blood test immediately.

1) Ayurvedic health tonic -Rakthavardhini
The name of the tonic is called 'Rakthavardhini' which means 'the one which increases blood' in Malayalam. This is something my mom bought for me after consulting an ayurvedic doctor and she explained how lean and fatigue am I and the doctor after taking into consideration my age and health related issues prescribed this one for me. There were many other medicines as well. But this one is in peculiar especially because of its name and the briefly explained benefits on the label. Mom bought it from a nearby ayurvedic pharmacy and being a Keralite, it is quite easy to spot an ayurvedic pharmacy. If you are unable to find this product, then look for the one with the similar ingredients in the content.

Coming to its taste, to be honest- it is somewhat difficult to gulp it down. I said somewhat because I have become tolerant enough to ayurvedic medicines as I used many of them for many many reasons since a long time.

It helped me in the following ways as of now.
  • When I checked my eyes before and after taking this tonic, I can REALLY see the difference. When it looked white and pale before, it has become red and pink NOW ( in a period of fewer than 2 weeks). I can't say that all the praises go to this one before I really managed to take care of my food and drink habits too.
  • It has helped me with my fatigue-ness.

2) C pink Iron Supplement:-

Though I do not take it now, I have added it to the list because I have used it alone before and it has helped me too. Unlike the first one you are more likely to find this one in your area as this is an allopathic medicine and it is quite a popular one as well.

I remember using it before say 5 years when I decided to join hostel for bachelor's degree. I went to the doctor and he prescribed a whole BOX of C pink tablets for 6 months! To be very honest with you, a strip or two came back home with my luggage when I returned home after giving my final exams and vacated the hostel room :P

I quitted using it once I gained the normal blood levels.

My doctor suggested me to take one tablet per day. I have decided NOT to buy it again because I learned that these supplements are not good for your health. So I suggest to use it only and only you can't spend enough of time and attention to treat anemia with proper diet and regime.

3) I quitted those red hot pickles! 

South India is famous for the hot red pickles with those chilly powder too. I was and is a fan of it. But trust me I decided to say NO to pickles for a while in my life and that has helped me a lot.
Now, I DO use it. But a very small and considerate portion.

4) I drink Amla juice or lime water. ( Both can help an anemic). I have already shared my amla squash recipe here.




5) My mom makes carrot juice and beetroot juice for me once or twice in a week too. Boil a beet or carrot to help it subside the raw taste. And then allow it cool and blend it with some sugar, milk/water too. When carrots are blended in milk, it tastes similar to the carrot halwa. I prefer beets juice to be made in water alone.




Tip: Mom adds a small piece of ginger to the carrot juice and the juice of half a lemon to the beets.This helps enhance the flavor. 

Has it cured my Anemic problems?

Yes! I have REALLY started seeing the difference, girls. You should start doing or following the exact things above and I am sure it will help you.
